Woodland Period
After the Archaic period was the Woodland period. The Woodland Period was from 1000 B.C. to 900 A.D. During the Woodland period, pottery was improved. The people started to use sand to make pottery and that caused the pottery to be more strong. This also allowed the Woodland people to put designs on their pots. Later in the Woodland Period, the people started to create mounds. It is unknown what the main reason for these mounds were but archeologists infer that these mounds were used for religious or ceremonial reasons. The invention of the bow and arrow happened during this period. This invention made it easier to hunt other animals.
