The changes in rules
After Georgia became a royal colony, there were changes in rules. They did not have to follow the Trustee's rules after they became a royal colony. The land they could own was now unlimited. Slavery was now legal because they were now a royal colony. The government also changed. The people of Georgia were now allowed to elect their leaders.
Royal Governors
Since Georgia was now a royal colony, It had to have a governor. The first royal governor of Georgia was John Reynolds. At first the people were happy when he was first elected but he did not have a lot of experience so because of this the people of Georgia wanted to have him out of office. The next royal governor was Henry Ellis. Ellis started self government in Georgia. He gave the people more rights. Because of this, the people liked him. The next royal governor was James Wright. He was the most popular governor out of all the Georgian Governors. He expanded Georgia's borders and gained land for the colony. He was the last governor of Georgia before the Revolutionary War.
