Regions of Georgia
There are five different regions in Georgia. These regions are the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Appalachian Plateau, Ridge & valley, the Piedmont, and the Coastal Plains. The mountains are seperated into the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Ridge & Valley and the Appalachian Plateau.
The Mountains
The Blue Ridge Mountains are the biggest part of the mountain region. This includes Georgia's highest point which is Brasstown Bald. This region also has the most rainfall in Georgia. The rain fills all of Georgia's rivers and and gives the whole state water. The ridge & valley region is the second part of the mountains. This area is where the Appalachiaan Trail begins. The smallest part of the mountains are the Appalachian Plateau. This region is in northwest Georgia and here you can find Lookout Mountain where Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia meet.
The Piedmont
The Piedmont is the most populated region of Georgia. It includes the capitol, Atlanta where most of the state's population is. It iuncludes the famous Stone Mountain which is the world's bigest piece of granite. It also grows the grows the most famous peaches.
The Coastal Plain
The Coastal Plain is the largest region by land area. This contains the state's flattest land. Major crops that are grown there are peanuts and cotton. This region also includes all off the state's coast line. The barrier islands are all part of the coastal plains.
